Directs the planning, development and implementation of academic and research initiatives as it relates to Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) programs. Administers related business operations and grants, programs and a core facility in conjunction with working collaboratively with the unit Director.

Develops, plans, and implements initiatives relating to the institutes teaching and research mission; research, academic certificate programs, short courses, workshops and provision of high-performance computing services in data science and scientific computing.

Evaluates feasibility of new initiatives, sets goals and develops implementation plans, including but not limited to educating current and future data science workforce, partnering with industry to better understand their needs, and partnering with colleges to develop community-based programs.

Administers the daily operations of the institute including help desk and allocation of computational resources.

Oversees finances, facilities, staff and contractors in collaboration with the Director.

Promotes and manages relationships with industry, state and local government, other academic institutions, and national and local community leaders.

Acts as point person for specific programs with HPE, including development of computational resources and talent development.

Researches new opportunities for grant funding, participates in the writing of proposals, and ensures appropriate recordkeeping and expenditure of funds.

Partners with faculty interest groups to advance research in data science and scientific computing.

Establishes, implements, and oversees budgets. Directs all financial affairs of the department, including procurement, travel documentation, accounts payable and receivable and general accounting-related issues.

Ensures compliance with all UH internal audit requirements, UH Office of Contracts and Grants policies and procedures, and the State of Texas policies and federal rules and regulations. Represents the institute in college and university-wide offices and meetings, and external events such as meetings with community leaders or donors. Consults with University Research faculty on research designs and parallelization of computer software for super-computer applications. Prepares HPE projects as it relates to project/portfolio management. Performs other job related duties as required.

Qualifications

Doctoral and 7 years experience.

Education: Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.

Salary: 7,661.00 - 10,150.00
