The Great Lakes Construction Co. is an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company based in Northeast Ohio with an opportunity for a Survey Party Chief. The role is responsible for overseeing land surveys in the field, including conducting preliminary, location, construction, property, precise, and other engineering surveys.
- Responsible for leading a one-man survey crew in required project layout staking operations
- Accurately reads and interprets engineering plans
- Assist the Survey Chief in scheduling with Project Superintendents and Survey Coordinator
- Actively communicates with project supervision, Survey Manager or Coordinator daily or as needed
- Generates all project stakeout data information from survey software
- Operate survey instruments such as robotic total stations, data collectors, laser scanners, GPS, and other standard survey equipment to collect field data
- Interpret construction plans, perform necessary calculations in the field, and perform construction layout
Education
- High School Diploma
- BS in Civil Engineering, Civil Technology, Surveying & Mapping OR equivalent experience
Minimum Experience
- Candidates with 2+ years as Survey Crew Member
- 2 years experience utilizing GPS and Robotic Survey equipment of experience
- 1-5 years bridge experience
- Valid Driver’s License Required
Professional Certification
- OSHA 30 and CPR/First Aid or ability and willingness to acquire

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Autodesk

- Knowledge of tolerances, accuracies, and adjustments of survey equipment

Preferred Qualifications
- Carlson software experience
- 5+ years of bridge experience
- Topcon Machine Control experience
