Under the direction of the Medical Director, this position manages the Physical Therapy department. This position supervises staff and assures the quality of physical therapy services provided in the unit. This position is responsible for providing cost center, budgetary information and program development information to the Director. This position is responsible for providing a full range of rehabilitation services designed to restore patients to their optimal functional capacity, responsible for planning, evaluation and implementing physical therapy treatment as assigned by medical prescription within the scope of practice and to provide clinical direction to entry level and Physical Therapists II's. This position is typically a clinical specialist, demonstrating experience related to the ability to function independently and supervise staff.
Lift/assist in moving patients.
Ability to demonstrate appropriate exercises/stretches to the patient.
Position subject to credentialing process at Student Health and Counseling Services.
This position is subject to completion of a PrePlacement Medical Examination provided by Occupational Health Services, given at no charge to the applicant.
Employee shall participate in required preventive medical and medical monitoring programs, which may include blood tests, immunizations, TB screening, Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogen training, etc., and are provided to meet Federal, State and University requirements.
Position may, at times, require employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infection diseases are present.
Position requires signing a statement of understanding of the Dependent Adult/Elder Abuse Reporting Requirement.

Must possess a current California Physical Therapy License.
Must possess a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in Physical Therapy.
Experience managing a physical therapy department and/or clinic.
Documented experience in a variety of clinical settings as a physical therapist.
Skills and experience to perform all physical therapy procedures and modalities based on patients' needs.
Skills to exercise independent judgment related to documentation and patient related treatment issues.
Knowledge of proper body mechanics for lifting, bending, and reaching.
Oral and written communication skills to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain composure for a cooperative atmosphere; to establish a cooperative working relationship with staff; and to work effectively with a diverse population.
Organizational and development skills.
Knowledge of safe work practices to assure the environment does not have hazards.
Clinical experience in Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Physical therapy.
Current CPR certification or within 3 months of employment.
Experience in giving in-service training to colleagues and related medical personnel and outreach programs.
