Position Overview
The Sr. Software Architect provides technical leadership to multiple development teams within the Digital Business Platforms organization in Autodesk. The Digital Business Platforms organization ecosystem comprises of more than thirty-five systems that span the entire breadth of our corporation. The ecosystem includes packaged software, enterprise systems, cloud services, desktop applications and custom integrations. In this role, you will be instrumental in guiding a services-based architecture for components, cloud services and packaged software abstractions across this ecosystem.

Autodesk is undergoing a digital transformation to transition our business into a modern, cloud based subscription software model. The Digital Business Platforms group is responsible for leading the digital transformation of our core business systems. We are undertaking a modernization of our Billing platform, ERP, Tax, and HCM systems in support of this transformation. We’re looking for a strong, self-motivated individual who brings proven cloud and services architectural experience, technical process, leadership and vision to augment a strong team of motivated software engineers. This role provides an opportunity to have a dramatic influence on our technical strategy and the Digital Business Platforms group and across the division.

  • Lead the development of the Digital Business Platform architecture function and program, as well as promote and communicate its progress, outcomes and results to the organization and its leaders
  • Architect the services that support and integrate with our billing, finance, tax and HCM platforms
  • Drive the technical strategy and technical roadmap with hands-on leadership in architecture and implementation
  • Design and direct the governance structure and activities associated with ensuring compliance with the enterprise architecture
  • Drive the technical strategy for abstracting our packaged solutions and integrating our corporate data models
  • Architect the core integration components embedded across all enterprise applications
  • Drive and align technical strategy across divisions and interdependent teams
  • Manage cross-functional relationships with stakeholders, engineers, and technical partners
  • Serve as technical evangelist across technical and non-technical personnel at all levels
  • Mentor and work with development teams

Minimum Qualifications
  • MS or equivalent in Computer Science
  • 7-10+ years software development experience
  • Extensive experience designing and developing scalable, resilient, distributed applications
  • HTTP-based API design
  • Build, deploy, and orchestration of containerized workloads
  • Event driven systems, message queues
  • Distributed data stores, caching, and eventual consistency
  • Observability at scale: monitoring, log aggregation
  • Experience with Domain Driven Design in complex domains
  • Native desktop app development (Windows, Mac, Linux)
  • Native cloud application and cloud-connected application development experience
  • Experience with Agile, XP, and Scrum
  • Some experience with packaged software technologies like SAP, Workday, Ariba, etc. is helpful but not required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in one or more of: Java, C#, Javascript/NodeJS, Ruby/JRuby, Python, Golang, Scala, C++
  • AWS: EC2, S3, DynamoDB, Aurora, SQS
  • Virtualization: VMWare, AWS, Azure
  • Kubernetes and/or Amazon ECS
  • Monitoring solutions (e.g.: statsd/graphite, Prometheus, DataDog, New Relic, Dynatrace)
  • Logs aggregation: Splunk, ELK (EFK)
