The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) team is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will become part of a team that sets the standards for, plans, designs, and performs proofs of concepts and deploys network for Red Hat’s internal customers. You will be located at our biggest engineering site in Brno, Czech Republic, working with other associates from the IT Services team. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will work with the connectivity services, our preferred partner for all of Red Hat’s teams that provides LAN and WAN connectivity services across locations at office campuses, datacenters, and cloud providers.
Primary job responsibilities
Help us continue building and evolving the connectivity infrastructure of Red Hat, with the company priority being open hybrid cloud
Create solutions for customer problems (e.g., design connectivity for a cloud application deployment)
Enhance the LAN and WAN architecture, improving availability and scalability and reducing cost and time to deliver
Perform technology and equipment evaluation, including running proofs of concepts
Develop an evolution of the service (e.g., DNS architecture)
Do proactive research for system software bugs that may adversely affect the Red Hat network
Learn and test technologies to assess viability for upcoming projects
Create and update designs for anything ranging from a small office to a datacenter
Prepare and deploy changes
Respond to security incidents, requests, and alerts
Work with third-party suppliers
Create root cause analysis documents and work on corrective actions
Attend meetings to support any of the above
Solid ability to build, maintain, and troubleshoot IP networks across the open systems interconnection (OSI) technology and across different vendors and topologies, including core, distribution, and access
Knowledge of switch protocols, including spanning-tree protocol (STP), IEEE 802.1ad, VLANs, IEEE 802.1q, etc., and routing protocols, including EVPN, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, static routing, etc.
Practical experience with networking, firewall, and load balancing vendors, including Cisco IOS and Juniper (Junos OS), specifically Junos OS command-line interface (CLI), CheckPoint, Juniper NetScreen, F5 Networks, etc.
Understanding of the VPN and transport encryption technologies like IPsec, SSL, dynamic multipoint VPN (DMVPN), GET VPN, and SSH tunneling
Ability to analyze, develop concepts, and present to colleagues and management on an evolution of a current technology or the emergence of new technologies
Ability to take ownership of and provide an ad hoc leadership to architect, design, and implementation efforts and inform project participants and management of the progress
Experience working in an enterprise environment and familiarity with change and incident management; ability to facilitate cooperation among different teams
Software development skills, including knowledge of methodologies, processes, and best practices, are a big plus
Experience using Red Hat Ansible Automation to automate workloads is a plus
