Provides professional consulting services to Nuance Healthcare clients by the “platinum rule”, which includes: Compliant Documentation Management Program (CDMP)® review of client clinical records for CDMP® assessments and continuing education/compliance reviews. Nuance Healthcare provides a rigorous orientation and training program as well as a progression ladder/plan that allows consultants to grow into more senior roles. PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST BE ABLE TO TRAVEL UP TO 50% to be considered for this opportunity.
Researches and understands all CDMP® strategies with the ability to integrate up-to-date clinical and coding thought processes and /or coding conventions.
Demonstrates understanding and ability to research all Coding Clinic, and ICD-9/ICD-10 code references pertinent to CDMP® and provides updates for all Coding Clinic, and ICD-9/ICD-10 code changes.
Set-up and maintain a fully functional home office to complete remote record review.
Follows company policy regarding expenses and utilization of client and company resources in keeping with company mission to serve clients economically.

May assist with assessment, implementation and continuing education projects of CDMP® program that requires coordinating multiple resources, through management, organizational and communication skills, in collaboration with clinical consultants to resolve coding and documentation educational issues.
Assist in the mentoring of new Nuance consultants.
National travel up to 50% may be required if the scope of work for the clinical review team can only be completed at the client site.
8 + years acute clinical (ER/ICU preferred) or 5 years in-patient coding.
2 years Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) experience
Education, Skills and Abilities:
RN - License & Certifications: Registered Nurse licensure in the state in which you are based, or Physician Assistant Certification.
RN - Education: Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, science, health care management, public health, etc. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies. Master’s degree in nursing, Physician Assistant (PA) or a related field is preferred.
RN - Experience: Five years minimum experience in an acute care area such as ED, ICU (critical care) is preferred with that experience being within the past 5 - 10 years. Two or more yrs. of experience as a manager, coordinator, case manager, or project leader in some capacity. Previous Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) is preferred.
HIM: Health Information Management
HIM Certifications - RHIT or RHIA certification and CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) from AHIMA required. Active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHMIA). “AHIMA approved ICD-10 Trainer designation required.”
HIM - Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in HIM or HIM related field.
HIM - Experience: Minimum five years of progressive and current inpatient coding, auditing and healthcare reimbursement methodologies; consulting experience is highly desired.
