Position Summary:

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) applies the principles of behavior analysis to treat patients who have difficulties with socially significant behaviors. These may include social skills, communication, personal self-care. and work skills. BCBA therapists often work with children, with developmental or learning disabilities. BCBA therapists are often able to teach children with autism, or other developmental disabilities, the skills they need to increase socially appropriate behaviors while reducing challenging behaviors through the use of reinforcement and other appropriate behavior change procedures.

Responsibilities and tasks outlined below are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of First Leap Pediatric Therapy. Specific duties & responsibilities will vary depending upon classification.

Reports to:

  • Clinical Director


  • Provide direct ABA therapy in 1:1 and group settings in accordance with BACB guidelines and company policy/procedures.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and oversight of all patients (including completion of session notes within 48 hours, treatment plans, supervision, collect and analyze data, treatment authorizations, RBT requirements, running team meetings, etc.)
  • Provide training and supervision to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs).
  • Provide appropriate/constructive timely feedback for patients and training for parents.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and use of a variety of standardized assessment/screening tools effectively.*
  • Demonstrate ability to write comprehensive evaluation reports and communicate goals and objectives to parents, therapists, and other staff.*
  • Conduct functional behavioral assessments/analyses
  • Conduct verbal behavior/language assessments (VB-MAPP/ABLLS-R)
  • Communicate clearly with parents, treatment team, and supervisor or clinical director regarding patients.
  • Consult and collaborate with schools, daycares, medical professionals, and other pediatric disciplines as needed.
  • Provide parent, teacher, and staff training on the principles of ABA and behavior modification
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and abide by federal and state HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Remain up-to-date on ABA literature and participate in continued professional development.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Basic & Physical Requirements:

  • Must maintain a professional appearance with regard to clothing, grooming, hair, and make-up.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use computers or tablets efficiently.
  • Must be able to be physically active for extended periods of time (e.g. active play with kids, move quickly from one location to another or one position to another, utilize safe physical restraint positions).
  • Must be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include clinic, home, school, or community.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel between different job locations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and current auto liability insurance.


  • Master’s Degree and BCBA Certification
  • Responsible for completing and maintaining all required certifications and trainings within the first 30 days of being employed including but not limited to:

CPR/First Aid Certification where skills are demonstrated on a dummy

HIPAA Certification

SAMA Certification

BCBA certification and keep registration to the BACB current
