Kenai Refinery is seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual to provide fixed equipment program management and technical support for the site reliability team. The Reliability Fixed Equipment Engineer addresses issues which impact the mechanical availability of fixed equipment and piping in order to provide solutions which maximize the mechanical integrity and reliability of these assets.
Provides fixed equipment and piping mechanical engineering support to site. Uses experience and engineering perspective to provide support for troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis, and issue resolution.
Stays up to date on MPC specifications and standards requirements as well as latest industry best practices, technology and equipment design. Develops and delivers site training to educate, inform and guide refinery staffs on application of technical standards.
Provides quality assurance, technical support, and consistent application of MPC and industry standards and procedures to Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and TAR groups for new and existing equipment installations. Develops repair plans for equipment deficiencies identified.
Promotes safe work environment by providing engineering support to refinery safety programs. Participates in reliability or equipment-related incident investigations. Ensures refinery compliance with Process Safety Management Mechanical Integrity for refinery fixed equipment. Participates in area HAZOP reviews.
Provides technical support through all phases of capital and expense projects. Participates in technical reviews to ensure detailed mechanical engineering meets design specifications, codes and engineering standards.
Reviews and responds to fixed equipment inspection recommendations assigned. Performs and provides support for equipment FFS to address equipment deficiencies identified.
Initiates and leads root cause failure analysis for fixed equipment/piping events to understand causes for failures and identify effective corrective actions.
Provides engineering and design support for unit shutdowns and turnarounds.
Attends Area Team meetings. Champions MPC’s Reliability and MI programs.
Ensures Management of Change (MOC) process is followed for any changes implemented. Ensures equipment repairs and new installations are properly documented and all process safety information (PSI) and mechanical integrity information is updated.
Bachelor's Degree (or above) in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
A minimum of five years post-degree engineering experience in the refining or petrochemical industry.
Must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Experience with fixed equipment design, applicable codes, and repairs as well as associated damage mechanisms.
A minimum of seven plus years post-degree engineering experience in the refining or petrochemical industry.
