The Director of IT Product Management will oversee the product and project management disciplines including methodology, governance and processes, portfolio roadmaps and financials, PMO resources and our soon to be built QA practice. He / She is responsible for the overall leadership and effective performance of the Product Management team with accountability to deliver consistent, high quality projects, programs and manage the IT portfolios ensuring IT programs and projects meet organization goals and requirements. Leads and directs the team and works with department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects, portfolios and programs. This position is responsible for the overall performance of the IT PMO team in the delivery of the portfolio roadmaps. The team consists of Product Managers, Project / Iteration Managers and QA analysts. This role will also oversee the Agile transformation and will assist the organization by championing and evolving the program promoting smart principles and practices to all teams.
Develop and manage project portfolio, budgets, resource allocations, and costs with overall accountability for portfolio performance (key performance indicators and metrics).
Establish and facilitate effective project management governance, oversight and prioritization including maintaining a central repository for project management.
Create integrated program roadmaps, ensure interdependencies are clearly identified, manage and assist in timely resolution of interdependency conflicts.
Prepare and deliver regular, effective communications to ensure that leadership and project sponsors are adequately apprised of project statuses, successes, risks and issues.
Establish professional standards for business process and project management - using industry innovations, best practices, standards, methodologies, and key performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Lead project management team, establish performance expectations and standards, serve as a role-model and provide leadership direction to teams throughout the project lifecycle
Provide weekly / monthly PMO Reports, Scorecards, and Dashboards to the CIO and ensure effective communication with the senior leadership team.
Apply risk management assessment in project planning / ongoing execution and resolve issues and conflicts associated with management of multiple complex high-priority projects.
Build and lead a QA practice, define and execute QA strategy and establish standards and methodology while supporting all facets of Quality Assurance for the JOANN application.
Establishes themselves as a welcomed and trusted advisor on agile transformation to managers, scrum masters, product owners, developers and other stakeholders
Education & Experience
Minimum: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in computer science, business or related field
Preferred: Master's degree in computer science or related advanced degree
Required: 8+ years in field, 3+ as a Manager or higher Preferred Retail technology or related business experience including large-scale implementations, application design and IT or project governance
Project Manager Professional (PMP) certification preferred
Agile transformation or application of Agile methodology (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) on software development projects
Experience in managing broad transformational changes through use of strategic acumen, attention to detail and the ability to manage business priorities across several business areas and projects by using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong executive presence and engagement style to operate effectively at all levels of the organization with confidence.
Experienced in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and able to apply them where best suited
Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills, able to work under deadlines in a changing environment, and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
Willingness to learn or take on new process challenges and technical areas
Proven track record of delivering high quality solutions on time and on schedule
Flexibility of providing support during odd hours, weekends, and peak seasons
Extensive Project Management discipline knowledge and skills
