Literacy for Life is a major Adult Literacy nonprofit organization operating in the Williamsburg and James City County areas in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. Literacy for Life has continued to implement innovative programs in response to community needs. As the delivery of programs has expanded, there is a need to enhance efficiency, transparency and accountability. Currently, Literacy for Life has complex program offerings and diverse funding sources, including state, corporate and foundation funding. There is a substantial and growing emphasis on reporting, requiring a Financial Analyst to focus on finance. The Financial Analyst reports to the Executive Director (ED) and is responsible for accounting, budget development, monitoring accounts payable and receivables, general ledger posting, monitoring payroll, financial statement audit support, tax preparation support, financial reporting, and grants financial administration. This is a part-time position from Monday through Friday; 20 - 30 hours per workweek, has a partial benefits package and requires a Background Check. Managing an annual budget of approximately $1 million, supporting the ED, program and administrative staff, the Financial Analyst performs the following functions: ï?? Oversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance nonprofit and accounting regulatory requirements; including keeping financial reports current ï?? Maintains and recommends internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs and program expenditures and actual expenditures ï?? Coordinates/supports all audit activities ï?? Oversees all financial, project/program, and grants budgets and accounting; ensure that expenditures consistently align with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/funding period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate and foundation grants ï?? Coordinates with Literacy for Life's leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administers and reviews all financial plans, compares plan to actual results to identify, explain and correct variances as appropriate ï?? Performs fundraising event financial management, develops budgets, forecasts revenues, reconciles receipts and expenditures ï?? Reconciles Payroll expenditures and all bank accounts ï?? Monitors payroll processing implementation including the payroll contract ï?? Manages overall organizational cash flow forecasting by coordinating with staff; collaborate with program leads to assess financial efficiency of program operations and establish finance reporting which supports program operations ï?? Supports the Board of Directors' Finance Committee and the Treasurer, as necessary ï?? Assists with other agency projects ï?? Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications ï?? Skilled in using QuickBooks for transactions and reporting ï?? Ability to work with ED, program and administrative staff personnel ï?? Technical abilities to implement and use Financial software to produce reports, forecasts, budgets and grants tracking ï?? Demonstrated experience in coordinating audit activities, financial reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and payroll ï?? Familiarity with grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of government, corporate or foundation grants ï?? Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in communicating key data to ED, the Board of Directors, and the Treasurer Education and Experience: Minimum three (3) years' experience with nonprofit organizations with multiple programs; preferred Accounting and Finance expertise; college level courses in Accounting/Finance are minimum requirements with a BA preferred Previous experience as a bookkeeper/accountant preferred
