Program Officer, Research Infrastructure
PCORI aims to accelerate patient-centered outcomes research and methodological research, in part by increasing the nation's capacity to conduct such research, building data infrastructure, improving analytic methods, and training researchers, patients, and other stakeholders. Our Research Infrastructure program funds and manages PCORnet, a large, highly representative electronic-data infrastructure for the conduct of patient-centered outcomes research. PCORnet is made up of two kinds of individual partner networks—Clinical Data Research Networks (CDRNs) and Patient-Powered Research Networks (PPRNs). PCORnet seeks to transform the culture of research from one directed by researchers to one driven by the needs of patients and other healthcare stakeholders.
The Program Associate for the Research Infrastructure program will contribute to the implementation of PCORI’s research agenda by primarily supporting the work of PCORnet through its communication efforts, meeting development and implementation, and projects related to governance. The Program Associate works independently, with guidance, and collaboratively to also develop and assist in designing new initiatives, preparing key documents and materials, and supporting task order management, PCORnet Committees, and other projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
General Program Responsibilities:
Participate in long and short-term program development, planning, and evaluation of Research Infrastructure team initiatives and programs.
Gather, synthesize, and analyze information to cultivate background information and identify key findings relevant to PCORnet.
Collaborate with all other PCORI departments, including Contracts Management, Finance, Engagement, and Communications, as necessary.
Organize and facilitate communication efforts with PCORnet stakeholders and PCORI.
Assist program staff by providing administrative support of and with coordinating, implementing, and facilitate meetings internal team meetings.
Prepare requested materials, including meeting agendas, notes and summaries, and PowerPoint slides for public and internal presentations by the program team.
Draft documents and correspondences for internal staff and external consultants/experts, including, but not limited to: memos, invitations, email communications, conference abstracts, and presentations.
Monitor and support network and demonstration project progress, as necessary.
Draft and review documents to support network projects.
Support PCORnet-related communications, including the drafting, review, and management of communications deliverables.
Support the development, maintenance, and implementation of PCORnet Governance, including policies, amendments, processes, and communications
Support PCORnet Committees, including the Executive Committee, Advisory Group, and Nominating Committee.
Support the development and implementation of PCORnet collaborative meetings with external stakeholders (e.g. PCORnet programming at the PCORI Annual Summit, PCORnet Committee Meetings, PCORnet Council Meetings, Principal Investigator Retreats, and Network Meetings).
Serve as the main point of contract for Research Infrastructure and PCORnet for meeting planning.
Provide administrative support of and with coordinating and implementing meetings, such as PCORnet collaborative meetings (e.g. Internal Team Process Meetings, PCORI Annual Meeting and associated PCORnet Mini-Summit).
Assist Program Staff with managing external and high-profile meetings and events, including the PCORI Board of Governors meetings and sub-committee meetings.
Development of both internal and external PCORnet communications, including the PCORnet Weekly Announcement and Weekly Digest.
Organizational Responsibilities and Contributions:
Attend external meetings and conferences on behalf of PCORI, at the discretion of the Program Officer.
Work with Program Officers to coordinate and/or prepare materials for Board or subcommittee meetings.
Assist Program Officers and Managers with administrative, programmatic and facilitation tasks, as needed and requested.
Support Program Officers in PCORnet Committee and other meetings as needed.

Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years of related work experience required, Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., MPH, MPA, MPP; or MBA) or its equivalent with one (1) to four (4) years of related work experience preferred.
Experience in health or health care related field, preferably in the non-profit or government sector and experience or knowledge working in a funding agency/organization is desirable.
