Information Security Engineer
SAFARI Montage is the leading K-12 Curriculum Learning Object Repository (LOR). The SAFARI Montage Curriculum LOR empowers teachers with district selected curricular resources for every lesson and supports teacher customization of lessons and district development or enhancement of courses utilizing all of the preferred resources available. The platform is 1EdTech and Project Unicorn certified and is interoperable with LMSs, Google Classroom & other Google EDU applications, Microsoft Teams & other Microsoft Education applications, SISs, Course Publisher Thin Common Cartridges (including 1.3), State Academic Standards, and more.
Reporting to the Director of IT, the Information Security Engineer is responsible for all aspects of security for the company’s information systems as well as working in conjunction with the Senior System Administrator and IT staff to manage on premises and cloud-based infrastructure.
This position is remote. SAFARI Montage will consider for employment qualified applicants located in:
FL, GA, IL, IN, MA, MD, MI, NC, NJ, PA, TN, TX and UT.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in all aspects of security by conducting detailed research and analysis of current company security, industry best practices and available solutions to propose the necessary actions to enhance company security posture;
- Plan, implement, manage and monitor security measures for the protection of the company’s data, systems and networks;
- Ensure the company cloud-hosted and physical infrastructure are protected by enforcing the appropriate security controls;
- Test and identify network and system vulnerabilities;
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging security threats, technical challenges and developments in system protection and IT security standards;
- Prepare detailed project plans for all security initiatives
- Develop security incident operating procedures and protocols;
- Configure and troubleshoot physical, virtual and cloud-hosted security systems and services such as on premises and cloud-based firewalls, access lists, etc. in conjunction with appropriate personnel;
- Develop and manage technical procedures to mitigate security vulnerabilities; including, certificate management, password management and Passkey authentication technology;
- Responsible for employee training and guidance on acceptable use, risk management, security protocols;
- Investigate security breaches, lead incident response and communication, prepare incident documentation, identify steps to minimize immediate impact and conduct technical investigation into the forensics of the breach and resulting impact;
- Work in conjunction with Senior Systems Administrator to manage operations of physical and virtual infrastructure, including enterprise servers, storage and systems;
- Compliment the Senior Systems Administrator in management of cloud-based infrastructure operating on Azure, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft 365, Google, and similar;
- Provide general IT support and work with Development team on projects when required;
- Participate in on-call pager responsibilities as needed; and,
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management or equivalent;
- At least five (5) years of experience in on premises and cloud-based computer systems administration with at least three (3) years specializing in computer security;
- Security-specific certification(s) preferred (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA, etc.);
- Proven experience in security focused roles;
- Hands on experience administering security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, endpoint protection software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.;
- Experience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools;
- Understanding of security and infrastructure best practices, including latest security principles, techniques and protocols;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
- Ability to quickly process and synthesize highly complex information;
- Demonstrated ability to perform in high-pressure situations; and,
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
