VCU Health System's Radiology Department is seeking a full time Program Support Assistant. This role provides office support by performing a variety of administrative and clerical functions. Duties include, but not limited to: diagnostic testing & preliminary patient work up, medical record and chart preparation, maintaining records integrity and responding to request for patient records/charts based on release and proper disclosure of medical record information. In addition prepping, scanning documents, retrieving records/charts, copying/faxing/mailing medical record information, delivering records/charts to patient care area(s), verifying patient identification, and quality control of medical records.
Prints schedules, encounter forms and pull slips for all scheduled and add-on patient appointments.
Reviews chart to ensure that all paperwork is up-to-date, including the patient notes, lab results, op/discharge reports, etc.
Obtains any missing paperwork.
Copies, faxes and/or mails medical information to the patient, other designated representative and other practice sites upon receipt of a completed release form, within requested timeframe whenever possible, but no more than five (5) working days.
Verifies availability of requested record at offsite storage facility, and places order in accordance to the priority status of the request.
Informs Supervisor of records that are not available and notifies requestor of status of records not found and/or available for pick-up.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of two (2) years of previous secretarial/administrative work experience in an office setting
Previous experience with Microsoft Office applications and e-mail/calendaring
Post High school coursework in Business, Accounting or closely related field.
Three (3) years of previous secretarial/administrative work experience in an office setting
Previous experience in a health care setting
