The following is a brief description of responsibilities to be performed by the Staff Accountant. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support month-end closing by creating journal entries and supporting schedules
Assist in monthly P&L variance analysis
Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
Ensure proper preparation of sales and use tax returns by 3rd party vendor
Assist with property tax filings and government required filings
Act as liaison for financial audit preparation and interact with external auditors
Assist with process improvement in day to day operations
Assist in the implementation of new tax software and complete special projects as assigned
Ability to perform all essential duties and responsibilities listed above
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
Volunteer willingly for additional responsibilities
Remain open and adaptable to change and new opportunities for growth.
Detail oriented and organized.
Must have ability to multitask and reprioritize based on changing demands.
Independent, self-motivated, team player.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management.
Lawson and Avalara software experience a plus.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 2 years accounting experience.
Bachelors Degree required.
Retail experience highly preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong verbal and written communication.
Proficient in English
