The Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures at Texas Tech University invites applications for a one-year appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, Fall 2020-Spring 2021. We are seeking a dynamic teacher-scholar who can teach a variety of courses in French and Francophone language, literature and culture, engaging with a range of time periods and subject matter. The successful candidate will demonstrate a capacity for high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as a demonstrated and ongoing commitment to serving diverse student populations. Expected service duties to the department, college, and university will include program-building and active commitment to extra-curricular activities. The candidate must have the Ph.D. in hand by the time of appointment. Native or near-native fluency in French is required. Teaching load will be 3-3.

Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity.
