Job Summary:
The Family Office Controller will be accountable for the proper management of the Owner’s personal finances inclusive of cash flow, real estate and private equity investments, loans, insurance, tax and estate planning. He/she will partner with the Family Office Personal Accountant and Corporate Accounting/ Finance Leadership to successfully manage current assets and liabilities, while strategizing on how to enhance profitability and increase efficiencies.

This role will help establish a family office and build the necessary infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Act as a liaison between “Family Accounting Office” and “Corporate Accounting Office” for equity and expense accounting
Provide monthly detailed cash flow and expense analyses and partner accounts
Provide monthly balance sheets for the family office, trusts and foundations
Manage banking relationships and credit card accounts
Oversee cash management activities in tandem with CAO, CFO and Treasury

Maintain accurate record of asset holdings, ownership percentages and applicable distributions
Provide monthly details and analyses of the gains/losses from investments
Review and manage financial statements of the large investments including land and other; support increased profitability
Support special projects as they relate to future acquisitions or investments

Establish tracking mechanism for loan parameters based on ownership holdings

Manage insurance renewals and policy maintenance

Record and report philanthropic payments accordingly; maintain schedules and track outstanding obligations
Management of all income tax filings
Support CAO on completion of Audit process, with specific view of ensuring reconciliation between Tax and Corporate; especially as it relates to Owner’s Tax Returns or personal financial statements

Producing and distributing partner reports
Hosting quarterly partnership meetings
providing guidance and insight on how to better execute various planning and associated outcomes

Oversight of retirement plan and Family Estate

Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Accounting or comparable background/training
Minimum 7-10 years accounting experience with specialization in family office
Experience dealing with high net worth individuals
Experience dealing with banks and trustees
Strong excel fluency; candidates will be tested on competency level
Preferred Requirements: Master’s degree, CPA designation and specialization in tax

Ability to exude the highest level of confidentiality with special attention to sensitive information related to Ownerships’ assets and financial positions
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with members of the Family.
Strong problem solving and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
Exposure to wealth management
Understanding of best practices in a family office environment
Strong technical skills including Excel spreadsheets, Quicken and QuickBooks
