Brains On, one of the leading kids' podcasts, is hiring an Assistant Producer for kids' podcasts. We're looking for someone with creative chops and good sensibilities for making podcasts that are entertaining, engaging and appropriate for young audiences. As an Assistant Producer you will work closely with the Brains On team on Smash Boom Best and other kids shows produced by American Public Media. This includes collecting and organizing stories, brainstorming ideas for episodes, booking guests for interviews, researching topics, writing scripts and editing audio.

Position is Temporary- Full-time for a duration of 4 months

Organize listener submissions and communicate with listeners as needed.
Contribute ideas and research for future episodes.
Assist in the launch of podcasts.
Log audio.
Edit audio.
Write scripts.
Assist on production in the field/on location.
Support membership, merchandise and live event activities.
Support special programming as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Internship or 6 months to one year experience in audio storytelling.
Experience with digital audio editing systems.
Experience writing for web based platforms.
Familiarity with social media platforms.

Interest in podcasts and audio storytelling.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to generate fresh, strong ideas for the show.
Solid emotional judgment.
Strong organizational skills; comfort with details and deadlines.
Strong research skills.
Interpersonal skills, including ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a variety of individuals and groups such as audience, guests, hosts and other APM staff.
Experience with digital editing systems ProTools preferred.
Ability to remain calm and consistent when communicating with emotionally vulnerable constituents.
Ability to learn new industry-specific skills.
