Are you an engineering grad student seeking an exciting opportunity for summer 2019? This is a great internship opportunity for someone to learn and help develop next generation Heat-Dotted Magnetic Recording (HDMR) technology.
The internship will be located at our recently opened, world class Fremont Research Center and will report to the Sr. Engineering Director for the Media Development Organization. The successful candidate will work as part of a team, working on projects that include:
Developing and demonstrating media patterning technology for next generation 5Tbits/sqin Heat Assisted Discrete Magnetic Recording Media.
Will work with Principle process engineers to develop rectangular patterned template using BCP and pattern duplication thin film process to demonstrate 5Tbits/sqin line patterns and densities.
Will involve physical and magnetic characterization of the patterned device.
Other responsibilities include comparing measurements results with modeling results to understand the underlying media Physics.
Interns typically work Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm. The hours are subject to change with or without notice at the sole discretion of Seagate.
Currently pursuing a Masters or PhD in Physics/Magnetism, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field with research on the .
Available summer 2019 starting in May or June and returning to school in the fall.
Proficient programming skills with Visual Basic, .NET, C-Sharp, or Labwindows or MatLab, Python or C++ would be strong plus.
Other helpful skills include: system integration, data-acquisition and instrumentation control programing skills.
Mechanical designing with Solidworks, electronics design and modification.
Proficient communication with team members.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a creative environment.
