Counterpart International is currently seeking a Systems Engineer. This is a full time position based in Arlington, VA. This position will report to Sr. Director, Information Technology and will be responsible for coordinating the setup, maintenance, and expansion of the organization's computer systems, including infrastructure, operations, enterprise applications, and in-house developments in a mixed on-premises/cloud environment.
He/She will provide day-to-day system administration of enterprise infrastructure; will also monitor and optimize system performance, and coordinate and manage support-related tasks with a dedicated support team.
The Systems Engineer will also perform software and hardware deployments; interface with end-users and participate on IT related projects. Travel to remote locations is infrequent but possible.
Coordinate IT support at remote offices (5-40 users each) and act to correct anomalies.
Perform the deployment, maintenance and close-out of all IT aspects of field offices.
Provide administration, installation, maintenance, upgrades and advanced troubleshooting of networking devices, servers and applications, both in cloud and on-premises environments.
Provide T2, T3 support to end-users on IT assets, including applications, security, and backup/restore.
Rigorously track tasks for ongoing projects. Create and maintain documentation on the organization’s systems and procedures.
Perform specific project-related tasks in collaboration with other team members.
Be committed to continued training and learning to stay abreast of technologies related to his/her responsibilities, showing a problem-solving, positive, curious mindset.
A minimum of an Associate Degree plus five years of relevant experience.
Hands-on expertise on Windows 10 deployments, ideally using Intune or other forms of automation
Hands-on experience with Azure AD
Mastery administering on-premise systems (Active Directory, Hyper-V, Windows Server 2012/2016 and cloud-based systems (Office365, particularly SharePoint Online).
Mastery of scripting languages for systems administration (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
Experience with small data center operations, procedures and control mechanisms for on premises and cloud environments.
Ability to develop and present end-user training programs, and to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
Ability to develop and document repeatable standardized procedures, and adhere to existing procedures
Certifications like Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), VMWare (VCP), Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Hyper-V, CISSP a plus.
Experience with not-for-profit organizations, life abroad, language skills and/or international development work is strongly desired and a definite plus.
The position requires strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, as well as a methodical and disciplined approach to IT issue resolution and systems management.
