IDS IT Cloud Operations Team
High Performance Computing Engineer required to provide and support advanced computing platforms to advance IDS product developments, including in the areas of AI and ML (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning).

As a High Performance Computing Engineer (Senior Computer System Technologist II or Principal Computer System Technologist) in our Cloud Operations team you’ll be part of a highly skilled group, delivering cutting edge advanced computing platforms to our programs and engineers.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
Assist in the architecture, design and support of high throughput/high performance computing (HTC/HPC) infrastructure
Install, configure and maintain compute clusters/servers and job schedulers used for advanced modelling, AI/ML training, and simulations
Configuration of the scheduling and queuing systems
Integrate a variety of engineering tools into job scheduler interfaces, optimizing where appropriate
Provide routine health checks of the deployed systems, including system administration, monitoring, storage performance and network fabrics.
Use scripting or programming skills to advance automation of deployment and maintenance, monitoring and problem detection
Provide technical expertise on clusters to junior system administrators
Research and recommend the latest in AI/ML infrastructure based on industry and academia trends
Collaborate on design and development of platforms to operate both on-prem and off-prem, in highly hardened environments.
This role will be filled at either a Senior II (G09) or Principal (G10) Salary Grade Level depending on the applicant skills, experience and education level, at the hiring manager’s discretion.
This role is based in Andover or Tewksbury, MA and may require travel to other MA area locations or Domestic US locations as necessary. Capped Budget relocation is available to the selected applicant if they are eligible per company policy. Budget amount will be discussed at the appropriate stage of our process.
This position will require a U.S. Department of Defense issued Secret Security Clearance within 1 year of start date. Except in rare cases, only US Citizens are eligible to obtain US Clearances.
6+ years’ experience in systems engineering or systems administration
Experience with Windows and Linux Administration
Demonstrated experience with HPC or HTC administration
Strong knowledge of schedulers or clusters, e.g. HTCondor/Slurm/Grid Engine
Experience creating technical documentation, such as writing technical implementation guides
Security+ certification or willingness to obtain one within 6 months of employment.

Familiarity with GPU servers (Graphics)
Working knowledge of NVIDIA RAPIDS and NGC containers
Experience with Cloud services such as AWS ParallelCluster
Familiarity with file systems such as ZFS, NFS, Lustre
Experience scripting in languages such as Ruby, Powershell, BASH or Python
Deep Linux system administration experience
Familiarity with DoD security configuration requirements, hardening procedures and settings
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Mathematics or a Technical Discipline is required to be considered at the Principal Level (G10).
Significant applicable professional experience in a related field in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree will be considered at the Hiring Manager’s discretion only at the Senior II Level (G09)
