The Sr Manager of Continuous Improvement is accountable aspects of process excellence and continuous improvement within Guardant Health’s Operations department with a focus on DNA sequencing and assay development. This position is responsible for identifying and executing on continuous improvement activities, leading cross-functional process improvement initiatives, and managing vendors and team members to ensure timely and efficient execution of department and company objectives. The position is dedicated to business process reengineering (analysis, mapping and optimization) to enable the routine delivery of exceptional business process performance (better, faster, cheaper).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in setting continuous improvement strategy which aligns to the business strategy and operational strategy while taking into account present operational realities.
Support a Quality first culture by initiating and supporting the improvement and continuation of initiatives driving accuracy and consistent adherence to regulations.
Identify, develop, recommend and implement efficiency initiatives associated with manufacturing and operational processes.
Determine and implement the most effective ways to create and execute production plans for Guardant Health’s products.
Develop a mechanism to capture and track the benefits and savings associated with operational improvement initiatives to illustrate the sustained benefit of the improvements.
Develop and deploy Capacity Analysis tools to increase productivity, maximize efficiency, and manage human capital more effectively.
Work closely with R&D to understand new product designs and transform process knowledge into high throughput production methods for production and manufacturing.
Develop test plans, protocols, batch records, and reports to ensure designs and processes meet product specifications, regulatory requirements and standards.
Oversee all aspects of tech transfer for new products including post-release QA.
Assist all departments in setting meaningful KPIs and measurement of actual performance against productivity standards.
Work across multiple departments to define and maintain the process used for improvement idea intake and prioritization, standardizing tools and templates used for process mapping/data modeling, and deliverables to facilitate rapid change.
Promotes and facilities diagnosis of the workflow impediments and other inefficiencies in Operations.
Develop and implement controls and/or metric monitoring capabilities to identify potential issues/trends as they occur.
Requires a BS degree in Engineering, Biochemistry or related discipline
8+ years project management experience and a BA or BS or; 6+ years of relevant experience and a MS or MBA. Relevant experience consists of a cross functional role within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry with understanding of clinical workflow processes.
5+ years of experience in an Operational Excellence, Business Excellence or Process Engineering role.
Strong facilitator of workshops and process improvement initiatives using continuous improvement methodologies with a track record of realized improvements.
Ability to interact with multiple layers of the organization with success in influencing at all levels.
Experience in developing organizational metrics and visual management systems for key performance indicators.
Highly skilled in visualization tools, SharePoint, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project).
