The major duties and responsibilities include:
Transcribes documents such as clinical discharge summaries, operative reports, vascular reports, progress notes and history and physical exams;
Ensures that the transcribed documents are attached to the correct patient and patient visit;
Transcribes documents in the order received unless document is marked as priority or otherwise assigned by the lead transcriptionist;
Cooperates with transcription needs of customers and the overall goals/performance measures of the organization are to be taken into consideration at all times;
Transcribes priority (STAT) documents in a timely manner (one hour of receipt of dictation); and
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday through Friday, 4:00pm to 12:00am or Wednesday through Sunday, 10:30am to 7:00pm.

TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. ~AND~

In order to meet the minimum qualifications for this position at the GS-5 level you must meet one of the following:

EXPERIENCE: You must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS04 level in Federal Service that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the Office Automation Assistant. Specialized experience includes: Listening to and interpreting audio dictations for transcription of documentation; knowledge of medical terminology; using office automation equipment such as a computer, telephone, scanner, fax; using Microsoft Outlook and Word for written communication; and performing data entry. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. ~OR~

EDUCATION: You must have successful completion of 4 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. If you are basing your qualifications on education or a combination of education and experience, you must submit a transcript to obtain credit. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application. Education cannot be credited without documentation. ~OR~

COMBINATION: You must have equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience to meet total qualification requirements at the GS-5 level. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application. Education cannot be credited without documentation.
