Medline has an immediate opening for a Director of Global Sourcing for our Sterile Procedure Tray Division in Northfield, IL. This position will be primarily responsible for direct material sourcing activities both domestic and international. We are seeking a dynamic, hard-working professional that has strong negotiating skills with a successful background in global sourcing. This person will need to have both strong analytical and communication skills, with a desire to work for a fast-paced, large corporate organization. In addition to exceptional leadership, you must have a “roll-up your sleeves” attitude.
Oversee and manage a team of Direct Material Sourcing Managers for the SPT Division. Negotiate prices, contract terms, NDA’s, quality requirements and work with vendors on product development.
The challenging responsibilities of the position include:
Develop programs related to US branded medical device vendors, to drive savings and generate value.
Lead a team of category managers to reduce the costs of direct material components and finished goods within each product segment through negotiation, cost reduction initiatives, new vendor development, and focus on TCO.
Negotiate vendor agreements related to price, terms, product design and quality, service and delivery and nondisclosures.
Develop and leverage key vendor relationships driving improved performance through implementing Vendor Scorecards and related KPIs.
Partner with internal teams including Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing and Quality related to supplier performance, product design and development and R&D.
Support Quality with SCAR, Deviations, Factory audits, product improvements.
Evaluate new and existing manufacturers in Asia and Latin America to evaluate capability and capacity and drive manufacturing process improvements. Relevant Work Experience
At least 7 years experience in purchasing.
At least 2 years of experience managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating and directing people as they work.
Experience in AS400 and SAP.
Strong analytical skills
Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook & Microsoft Project functional use needed.
Some travel required, including international
Education Master's Degree
Relevant Work Experience
Experience in medical device or FDA-regulated industry
Experience sourcing and negotiating in Asia and Latin America, particularly Mexico, would be highly desirable.
Extensive experience negotiating vendor contracts
