Client Group Overview

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced proofreader to join our Proofreading team within the Client Group. The Proofreading team is responsible for ensuring that all company print, digital and periodical materials are free from typos, are grammatically correct, follow established AB style and are fact-checked for name accuracy. The proofreader will interact with all the various groups within the Client Group, including Editorial, Production, Design, Multimedia and Digital, and with our internal clients in the firm. The proofreader is expected to be a self-starter and have a deep command of the English language, strong grammatical skills, and the ability to work with diverse groups and personalities.

Job Description

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Proofreading print and web materials
Creating style sheets for internal clients
Assisting with updates of internal style reference guides as needed to drive consistency across all materials
Marking up pages by hand using standard proofreading marks or marking up documents electronically in Adobe or MS Word, following AB Style Guide, Chicago Manual of Style, Merriam-Webster Unabridged and The Economist Style Guide
Serving as the final QA stage for many client-facing materials
Job Qualifications & Key Attributes

The ideal candidate should have:
A bachelor’s degree in English
A minimum of 2 to 3 years of proofreading experience, ideally in a financial-services setting
Impeccable grammatical skills
Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style
An exceptional attention to detail
The ability to prioritize a high volume of work, while providing precise and accurate edits in a fast-paced setting to ensure that deadlines are met

The ideal candidate is:
Passionate about his or her work and able to communicate suggestions in a thoughtful and considerate way, all while being able to follow directions from supervisors and the internal clients
Skilled at recognizing related pieces of information across similar and different products to ensure adherence to brand and messaging
Adept at synthesizing data to support the story/conclusion
Open to other viewpoints, collaborative, and versatile enough to work with different types of people and personalities
Able to demonstrate agility, flexibility and innovation when faced with complexity and/or adversity
Required Skills

Proficiency with Adobe text edits
Expertise in MS Word, specifically editing in Track Changes and inserting comments
Working knowledge of Méthode, Seismic and SharePoint is preferred but not required
