We are seeking a versatile scientist or technician with material science, chemical engineering or chemistry background to help optimize fabrication of a new type of nanoporous encapsulation device for islet transplantation to cure diabetes. The main thrust will be to qualify a fabrication process involving a diverse set of process parameters including material science, polymer chemistry, electrochemistry, nanopatterning, PVD and photolithography. The focus of this opportunity is to suggest process changes and then take the lead to test out your ideas to optimize each step of the fabrication process. The successful candidate will enjoy working independently in a small research lab environment. NanoMotif is located one mile from the main University of Minnesota campus in the UEL research building. Two years or more of hands-on laboratory experience is required.

The successful candidate must be creative, inquisitive, flexible, detail oriented and enjoy working independently with very minimal supervision. Good record keeping is a must. This position requires an individual who is passionate about R&D and is willing to work in a wet processing environment. Good oral and written communication skills are essential. Salary expected to be $50K-$65K depending on qualifications and experience.
