Position Summary: The Manufacturing & Quality Process Engineer develops and improves manufacturing processes. S/he is a hands-on working engineer that is able to work independently with little supervision. More specifically, the Manufacturing Process Engineer develops, implements, and upgrades manufacturing processes to improve quality, cost, delivery, and safety performance. S/he is also responsible to develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors (product management). S/he interacts frequently with Safety, Engineering, Production, Quality, and Customer Service and Sales. S/he also coordinates multi-disciplinary activities associated with implementation and ongoing management of new products.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Functions as a downstream subject matter expert (SME) for large-scale contract manufacturing involving roto-molded plastics.
Supports remediation of complex manufacturing process deviations through troubleshooting.
Meets with Dutchland personnel to gather information and establish time-lines for projects.
Using lean manufacturing techniques and six sigma methodologies develops process improvements and optimal use of manufacturing resources.
Support process validation studies, process improvement studies, and/or process capability studies.
Implements Process Controls and conducts statistical root cause analysis to identify ways to improve and maintain acceptable product quality.
Ensures product quality, process capabilities, and cost improvements.
Works closely with the Supervisor, Team Lead and Design Engineering to support new product introduction and product upgrades or cost improvement initiatives.
Develops work instructions which direct the most efficient, cost effective and highest quality process.
Reduces machine down-time by developing standard work instructions for predictive/preventative maintenance. Identifies the schedule, tools, and supplies needed for proper maintenance of capital equipment.
Works closely with Finance and Materials to ensure correct manufacturing costs, process routings and bill of materials.
Collaborates with Operations and HR teams to determine the key training needs to support business objectives and design programs that directly address those needs.
Works closely with production and facilities maintenance to troubleshoot and repair problems with production equipment.
Works with suppliers to ensure incoming quality, and equipment vendors to develop the most efficient use of capital.
Understands and ensures that customer requirements can be met at every step of the project time-line.
Communicates any issues that arise during a project that will alter the agreed upon project time-line.
Attends mold/pattern review meetings to gather information and assure that proper communication takes place at all points of the Product Development process.
Communicates all significant product changes to current molded products internally and to the customer(s).
Assists in monitoring and coordinating the activities of workers who are involved in inspecting materials and ensuring that they meet the quality standards specified by the customer.
Develop reports showing quality driven data, inspection and audit performance and improvement opportunities.
Evaluate and recommend alternative auditing procedures for continuous improvement.
Support production leads and operators for interpretation and methods following set standards.
Involve in team driven actions to help improvements.
Interpret and support quality policies and implement guidelines to ensure compliance with quality standards and documents.
Develop and maintain QA programs complementary to enterprise quality system, corporate objectives and policies.
Interpret quality control system to people within organization.
Develop new methods to resolve problems occurring during QA activities.
Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
At least 5+ years of project management experience.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred; related experience, job specific certifications, training may be acceptable in lieu of education.
Expertise with Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) some Microsoft Project Management experience desired.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills, solid decision making/problem solving skills, solid judgment, and ability to operate autonomously under general direction.
Good learning agility and the ability to anticipate future needs.
Strong communication skills and attention to detail, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to deal with unresolved situations, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events and maintain calm disposition.
Organization skills and attention to detail are an absolute requirement for the success of this position.
