The Secure Information Systems Division (SIS) in the Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research Laboratory (CIPHER) is looking to hire a junior systems administrator/engineer for projects revolving around application virtualization in a security sensitive environment.
A successful candidate will have 2-5 years of experience working at a Managed Service Provider or 4-8 years as an internal IT administrator with experience in the Microsoft software stack including but not limited to Windows Server 2016, Active Directory, and PowerShell scripting.
This is a technical role with unique challenges, a successful candidate should enjoy solving technical problems. Flexibility towards differing management tools and system architectures is a prerequisite for success in this role, as the projects are iterative in nature and will change over time. Successful candidates need to be self-starting and have the ability to design solutions and resolve issues with modest levels of support.
Future growth in this position would include Citrix, Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, VMware Horizon View projects, as well as exposure to a wide swath of technologies across other projects. Candidates must enjoy working with open source software and cutting edge technologies. Candidates will contribute to sponsored research projects and have an opportunity to work with scientists and engineers.

Research Engineer/Scientist I
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field of study.
Research Engineer/Scientist II
A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field of study and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field of study and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field of study.
Required Minimum Qualifications
2 - 8 years service delivery experience
Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study
Master's degree in relevant field of study or be willing to pursue an advanced degree in relevant field of study
Technical diagnostic expertise including problem investigation, reproduction, and resolution skills
Ability to acquire new skills efficiently
