The meter reading department is responsible for reading our customer’s natural gas and electric meters in a safe, accurate and efficient manner. To be considered for this position, you are required to attend a validated assessment to measure basic knowledge, skills and abilities related to Meter Reading.

This posting is for the Metro Area, specifically for the read territory of Royal Oak, Livonia, and Howell headquarters and is for Long Term Temporary Meter Readers.
The current starting pay is $ 23.93 per hour.
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record, be able to work outside in all types of weather, possess and demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work with customers.
This position requires driving your personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement. You must provide proof of insurance for your vehicle and the coverage must meet or exceed the State minimum.
This position requires 8-10 miles of walking and 60-80 miles of driving per day.
Selected candidate must successfully complete an accuracy test after the first week of training to retain employment.
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Perform other similar or related work. The omission of additional general duties does not prevent the assignment of future additional job tasks if such tasks support the needs of the business and are reasonable for this position.

Candidates may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, or as the business needs necessitate. This may be related to storms and other business related emergencies.
