Position Description

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will:

  • Be responsible for maintaining mechanical systems and components for all production and facilities equipment in the manufacturing plant.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure that all preventative and corrective maintenance is performed in a timely manner.
  • Use your extensive mechanical (pneumatic, hydraulic, electro-mechanical, etc) knowledge to repair the wide variety of equipment in the plant.
  • Work with engineers and other employees to develop new processes to make the facility more efficient.
  • Work in a steel plant environment, which can be hot in the summer and cold in winter.

Position Details

Location: Marion, OH

Salary: You can very realistically expect your 1styear total compensation to be around $60K-$75K, based on your hourly rate (typically about $15/hr) + weekly Production Bonus (averages 80% to 150% of base salary paid weekly) + overtime. Weekly bonuses are based on the production of your work group, which ranges from 20 to 40 workers. These bonuses are based upon anticipated production time or tonnage produced. The company uses non-discretionary formulas based upon established production goals for bonuses. Additionally, pay raises are excellent. Promotions provide outstanding compensation, which is why so many former military service members and Navy Nuclear Technicians work for our client.

Shift Work: After your initial few months on the job (during which time you will most likely be trained on a regular day shift), you must be willing to work one of the following rotational shift cycles (or a close variant):

Standard Rotational Cycle: Rotating shift with four 12-hour days followed by an off weekend, then four 12-hour nights followed by an off weekend.

Modified Rotational Cycle: A modified schedule that will look something like this:

  • 4 days on, 2 off
  • 3 nights on, 2 off
  • 3 days on, 2 off
  • 4 nights on
  • 7 days off

Position Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate good mechanical systems troubleshooting and repair skills.

  • Ability to interpret drawings for repair, installation and maintenance of complex pneumatic and hydraulic systems and equipment.

  • Proficient with metal welding and cutting principles, equipment, and techniques.
  • Capable of coordinating shutdown work, projects, and preventative maintenance.
  • Highly motivated and willing to work long hours.
  • Basic electrical aptitude and skills and willing to develop further aptitude and skills.
