This class performs professional work coordinating and facilitating Brevard Public School / School Officer and the Safe School programs; serves as program liaison; monitors and evaluates school resource officer, security and Alternative Learning Center functions; coordinates and administers community based student programs. This class works under general direction and requires considerable independence and initiative.
Position Duties: The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional related tasks as necessary.
Serves as administrator, facilitator and coordinator of the Brevard Public School / School Resource Officer programs.
Serves as law enforcement liaison to various Brevard Public School programs.
Interacts with members of Brevard Public Schools, other law enforcement agencies, and the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
Performs research utilizing in-house and other databases.
Design and implement a school-based system of assessment to include data gathering.
Provides information, guidance, and curriculum coordination for Alternative Learning Center and other programs.
Coordinates and prepares School Resource Officers for student participation, exercises and events.
Performs program needs assessments and participant surveys gathering information to evaluate program effectiveness.
Prepares correspondence, activity reports, informational publications, program documentation and information.
May serve on agency, interagency and community boards.
Regular, dependable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.
Requires Bachelor's degree in an education related field.
Requires a strong working knowledge and understanding of Brevard Public School administration, procedures and functions.
Knowledge of AS400.
Requires a minimum of 10 years state certified education classroom experience.
Valid State of Florida Department of Education Professional Educator's Certificate.
Valid Florida Driver's License.
Additional Information: Work is primarily performed in an office environment.
Employee will work in an outside environment on occasion.
Work is completed during varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
