Primary Role

Senior Financial Analyst responsible for operational spending and manufacturing variations analysis for a biotech manufacturing facility. Will work with cost center managers and team members to budget, forecast and track spending and manufacturing variations. May also analyze capital spending and cost manufacturing items as needed. Candidate should have a high degree of initiative, which includes identifying and implementing opportunities to improve internal controls.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities

  • Assist with annual budget and quarterly forecasts for operational spending Prepare financial reports for Plant and Division management
  • Work with cost center managers to develop budgets and forecasts
  • For approved capital projects, track actual spending and timeline versus budget assumptions
  • Place fixed assets into service once projects are completed
  • Perform periodic cycle counts of fixed assets
  • Ensure accuracy of Balance Sheet accounts through monthly account reconciliations
  • Work with internal and external auditors on audits of financial statement balances and internal controls
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis as required
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements

Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Business required, Accounting or Finance strongly preferred. Demonstration of key finance competencies and qualifications and typically 4 + years of relevant experience with financial planning and reporting.

Desired: CPA a plus; MBA a plus

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of cost accounting in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical manufacturing a plus
  • Self-starter with strong analytical skills and decision-making capabilities
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with individuals at all levels, and from all functions, in the organization
  • Strong technical and financial knowledge, including understanding of internal control requirements and US GAAP, as well as understanding of relevant business environment
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of PC applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to manage tasks concurrently
  • Owns career and is accountable for managing own development

Working Environment

  • Normal office environment
  • Working hours will generally be from 8 am to 5 pm. Overtime (evenings and / or weekends) is typical during month end close and budget preparation, but may be required at other times depending on business needs
  • Will have interaction with other people
  • May require infrequent visits to clean room environments, requiring special gowning
  • Pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high
  • No direct reports

Other Requirements

  • The overall physical exertion of this position is sedentary work
  • May be required to lift up to 10 pounds when completing the following job duty – sending or retrieving boxes of documents to/from storage
