Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national and international practice, seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team as a Paralegal in its New York City office.

Job Description:
  • Manage multiple Insurance Defense matters through entire cycle for a busy practice group
  • Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation lifecycle, ranging from pre-compliant investigation through trial and appeal
  • Review documents for privilege and draft privilege logs for attorney review
  • Prepare and maintain expert witness binders
  • Organize and maintain physical and electronic files; coordinate document productions including but not limited to bates-stamping, redaction, duplicating and indexing documents
  • Interact with clients, court officials, experts and all levels of the organization
  • Perform jury research and communicate with experts and fact witnesses
  • Analyze medical records and prepare comprehensive medical chronologies
  • Drafting, revising and finalizing pleadings, motions, briefs and discovery responses
  • Basic knowledge of standard litigation terms
  • Knowledge of eDiscovery and prior experience with document review databases, such as iPro and Relativity is preferred, but not required.
Job Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of insurance defense experience
  • Paralegal certificate preferred, but not necessary
  • Experience with document control and e-filing with state and federal courts
  • Experience in defense civil litigation, construction defect litigation (preferred) and management of high-volume of cases
  • Experience reviewing medical and technical records preferred
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle pressure, interruptions, and multiple projects with frequently changing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to perform legal research, in-depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles
  • Ability to analyze legal documents and ensure accuracy
  • Exceptional organization, writing and communication skills
  • Interact professionally with clients, attorneys, paralegals, secretaries, all other staff, and other representatives outside of the firm
