Environmental, Health & Safety Engineer
LaFollette, TN / Full-time
The EHS Engineer ensures compliance with Federal, State, Local, and Internal regulations and provides guidance to associates in regards to International Standards (ISO-14001, 45001).
Develop & provide EHS related training
Develop and maintain EHS training matrix
Investigate EHS related accidents and near-misses, implement corrective actions, track corrective actions to closure
Recommend processes and safety features that will reduce employees’ exposure to chemical, physical and biological hazards
Inspect facilities, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards
Maintain current knowledge of regulatory change affecting the EHS discipline
Manage hazardous waste
Maintain records in accordance with internal and external requirements, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, Internal BSH metrics
Assist in development of EHS policies and procedures
Assist in the management of worker’s compensation
Manage the ISO 14001 & 45001 Programs to ensure compliance to the standards
Conduct EHS audits, implement corrective actions, track corrective actions to closure
Conduct Job Hazard Analysis’
Responsible for First Responder Program
Lead the implementation of site wide EHS initiatives
Responsible for approving new chemicals and maintaining Safety Data Sheet Database
Coordinate emergency drills
Be an agent of change and promote a strong safety culture
Assist Facility Engineer in monitoring the activities of on-site vendors/contractors to ensure compliance
Complies, generates and file annual regulatory reporting as assigned
Leading safety and health related projects as assigned
Manage the contractor safety program and ensure contractor training is provided
Support Leadership in completion of 8D’s, accident investigations, and implementation of Controls to reduce Risk.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
Minimum of five (5) years experience in similar position.
Ability to work at multiple sites.
Ability to respond in emergency situations calmly with authority
Must be able to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal and presentation communication skills.
Independent decision-making skills
Ability to be effective and diplomatic in working with people across all organizational levels
Technical writing skills preferred.
