ABOUT US:
Smithsonian Channel is a joint venture between Showtime Networks and the Smithsonian Institution. Our awe-inspiring programs, powerful documentaries and entertaining factual stories shine new light on popular genres such as air and space, history, science, nature, travel and pop culture. From legacy series such as Aerial America, Million Dollar American Princesses and Air Disasters to recent hits like America in Color, The Lost Tapes and The Coronation, our award-winning programming is available across multiple platforms in HD and 4K Ultra HD. The Channel is also available internationally in Canada, Singapore and Latin America, with more international launches to come in 2019. We currently have offices in New York City and Washington, DC.

DESCRIPTION:
'- Daily social media activities on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

Social media reporting and analysis through Sprout Social and other third-party tools
Brainstorming and implementing scheduling and project management for digital marketing stunts
Supporting distribution and promotion of video for premiering shows
Developing competitive assessments & trend analyses for key social media initiatives
Develop posts and strategies to support Smithsonian Networks across various social platforms
Assist in QC of site, apps, social and interactive projects
Offer ideas, input, and feedback
Miscellaneous urgent tasks as they arise

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Current undergraduate student (rising junior or above)
Strong Interest in the Cable/Entertainment Industry
2.50 GPA or above
Submission of a cover letter - required
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Superior communication and interpersonal skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Able to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work and prioritize work assignments
Able to provide administrative support as needed

Preferred:
Cable television experience a plus
Active participation in extracurricular activities; clubs; and/or
associations. Leadership positions while maintaining an

above-average GPA, a plus

Prior internship experience in a related field, a plus
Very strong communication skills
Deep familiarity with the functionality of major media sites, examples, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
