The Scrum Master executes Agile principles, practices and theories to drive delivery, minimize time to market, and maximize return on investment.
Maintains and executes the Agile process for 3 – 4 Scrum teams
Ensures the Agile process is understood and followed
Ensures the most valuable metrics are captured, accurate, and visible
Holds recurring meetings for Standup, Sprint Planning and Sprint Retrospective
Maintains positive relationships with team members, demonstrating professionalism and diplomacy
Maintains a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving
Works with a diverse range of talents, personalities and teams, including under pressure, within extremely tight deadlines, while maintaining a good sense of humor, tact and professionalism
Identifies and removes impediments for the Scrum teams
Protects teams from both internal and external distractions, improves transparency, and radiates information
Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
Supports and educates the Product Owner on scrum best practices, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog
Holds regular sprint reviews to demonstrate finished work to stakeholders and celebrate team achievements
Tracks and manages agreed scope and changes to scope
Works closely with delivery teams to establish expectations and ensure tasks remain on track
Maintains a highly productive culture with a sense of mission and achievement towards a collective goal
Strong understanding of agile Scrum practices (e.g., sprints, estimation, prioritization, burndown tracking, release planning/scoping)
Strong understanding of agile Scrum ceremonies (e.g., daily stand-ups, demonstrations, retrospectives, Scrum of Scrums)
Strong understanding of software delivery, particularly in the software environment (e.g., understanding of development and test environments)
Familiarity with Scrum and Kanban concepts (e.g., grooming user stories, managing the backlog, WIP)
Awareness of Agile technology practices (e.g., Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing)
Scrum Master certification (CSM, SSM, PSM)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 2 years related experience in an Agile-focused (Scrum) software delivery environment
Client-facing consulting experience is a plus
Self-starter accustomed to a fast-paced environment
Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least one year for a team diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory
Knowledge of numerous, well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (examples: Burndown techniques, Retrospective formats, handling bugs)
Demonstrable servant leadership skills in the areas of group facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
Experience using software tools to manage scrum teams
Excellent communication and mentoring skills
