The Plant Business Analyst manages budgeting and financial reporting for the Indian River and Vienna generations stations. This position will work with business leaders, plant management and asset managers, internal customers, vendors, and other subject matter experts to provide support and direction to optimize the company’s business objectives and operational performance. This position is responsible for the analysis, consolidation, and presentation of all types of statistical data, information, trends, and patterns for plant operations performance and financial data. The incumbent will also drive operational improvements within the stations through the identification and resolution of process improvement opportunities.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Develops, prepares and tracks plant budgets and business plans.
Plant Business and Administrative Process owner with responsibility for all plant business and administrative policies and procedures.
Complete the monthly accounting close process and provide information and reports to NRG management including financial and operating results, accruals, variance analysis, project and outage cost information and updated year-end forecast for Indian River and Vienna plants.
Utilize multiple data sources to collect, analyze, consolidate, and provide timely, accurate, presentation of all types of mission-critical business metrics, trends, and patterns within plant operations; including plant performance (availability and reliability), safety, and financials (Capex, O&M, and G&A). Utilize data sources appropriately for specific ad hoc assignments. Effectively convert data to meaningful information for plant and corporate management.
Accurately track, evaluate, and report on capital and major maintenance projects monthly or as needed.
Identify opportunities for workflow/process improvements and work with functional areas and plant management to jointly develop ways to enhance productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness through the appropriate application.
Manage and direct business support and clerical staff including but not limited to accounts payable and timekeeping activities.
Assist in the preparation and review of financial and operational business planning and forecasting activities in coordination with FP&A.
Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses as necessary and in a clear, timely manner.
Work closely and maintain open communication with other members of the organization. Build relationships and the understanding of organizational roles within NRG while establishing productive & influential relationships across all functional areas to ensure consistent and well-coordinated presentation and analysis.
Promote and maintain an environment of teamwork and cooperation among staff.
Serve as a plant or NRG representative on issues with project partners and external contractors as needed.
Overall responsibility for administrative and facilities management including purchasing office supplies and equipment as needed and management of facilities maintenance and cleaning vendors.
Responsible for overall administrative support of stations and employee programs such as the distribution of information, scheduling, and coordination of human resources activities and maintaining personnel files.
Provides accounting and budget advice and counsel to the plant management team.
Responsible as the point-of-contact for accounting, tax, and SOX and other potential audits.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business related discipline, or in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Minimum of 2 years of related experience
Previous Business Accounting experience and knowledge of accounting standards and principles.
Previous experience in preparing and tracking budgets and costs.
Advanced proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Ability to learn and be proficient in specialized business technologies and applications (e.g. Outlooksoft, JDE, PowerGADS, SAP, MP2, Maximo etc.) to retrieve and analyze data in support of business needs.

Preferred Experience:
Power Plant and/or energy industry experience a plus.

Physical Requirements

Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs.
Occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs. as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.

Working Conditions:
Normal office environment and/or power plant – occasional out of doors work environment. (Including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations).
Occasionally work additional and non-standard working hours as required.
Occasionally requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, earplugs, etc.).
May occasionally be required to work around rotating and energized equipment.
Requires operation of a personal computer.
Valid state driver’s license.
Requires occasional travel outside service area.
