This position discovers and represents the Voice of the Customer in the development of new motorcycles from inception through launch and beyond. The Lead Product Manager seeks to understand the motorcycle market via primary and secondary research including firsthand motorcycle riding experience, in order to ensure the products on motorcycle Lifecycle Plan are innovative, aligned with the brand and represent customer wants and needs. A critical responsibility of the Lead Product manager is to act as the primary product development interface, managing accurate and timely communications with key stakeholders including sales regions, marketing and the product development community to support both input to the lifecycle plan, the development of the product and the successful launch of new product. Acting as the subject matter expert, the Lead Product Manager develops volume and financial forecasts for project, balancing investments against enterprise objectives. This expertise supports the planning and development of new product offerings and ongoing product improvements consistent with global customer strategies, customer requirements, business strategies, enterprise plans, global opportunities and quality, cost, and timing targets that meet/exceed agreed upon goals.
Creating voice of customer statements based on the analysis of market research, customer and dealer insights, and stakeholder inputs, which leads to the creation of product concepts.
Maintain accurate and current communications with appropriate stakeholders including sales regions, marketing and the product development community.
Capture and organize global insights, information and observations from various stakeholders’ groups to be incorporated into the Lifecycle Plan.
Actively listens and seeks diverse opinions and shares information honestly and transparently.
Analyzes and interprets data and recommended solutions based on data analysis and consumer insights.
Seeks to improve the relevance of our products and the efficiency of our processes through continuous improvement.
Maintains deep knowledge of the motorcycle marketplace and an intent focus to recognize early trends in order to anticipate future or unspoken customer wants and needs.
Supports the development and management of products on the Lifecycle Plan as the subject matter expert for their segment through informed recommendations.
A bachelor's degree in a Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field is highly preferred.
This role typically requires a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience highlighting:
Strong communication skills and the ability to translate this understanding into strategic direction and actionable products that results in value in the customers eyes.
The ability to work collaboratively with all levels and areas of the organization by providing input on a technical solution that meets the criteria and influence others to approve and support the direction.
Proven skills in leadership, communication, collaboration in the execution of new initiatives and the ability to successfully challenge and motivate others.
A demonstrated commitment to exploring innovative products and a willingness to challenge the status quo.
Motorcycle riding and industry experience strongly preferred.
