At Nestlé Purina PetCare, we’re a “safety first” culture, driven by a zero accident, zero defect, zero waste mentality. Maintenance team members at our new Hartwell, GA factory provide technical support on-shift for the entire operations department with a designated area of responsibility (and expertise) in either processing, packing, or utilities/electrical.
The maintenance technician supports the function of the Maintenance Work Group (MWG) through execution of planned maintenance activities, support of the predictive maintenance program and providing technical leadership and support for the operations department. As a maintenance team member you will be responsible for working proactively and collaboratively with production operators and the operations facilitator to train and transfer knowledge of basic maintenance activities such as cleaning, inspection, lubrication to the entire maintenance group.
In addition, you will lead field inspections, determine appropriate job work scopes, develop maintenance work plans and create parts kits to allow for efficient scheduling of safe and well- executed maintenance work. This position is a great opportunity for someone who would like to take their mechanical skills to the next level.
1. Your primary responsibility in all of the work you perform is to be safe. Never put yourself or fellow employees at risk of injury. Responsible for following all plant safety rules and work rules.
2. Execution of Planned Maintenance:
a. Perform PMs as assigned by the Planner/Scheduler and/or MWG lead to proactively prevent failures and promote safe and efficient operations
b. Create, use, and maintain plant history and other technical files to include information in current job plans to anticipate and avoid job delays.
c. Create, revise, and improve parts kits working with salary planner/scheduler to build part kits into SAP.
3. Reduce Unplanned Stoppages through Effective Root Cause Analysis
a. Provide on-shift troubleshooting support to identify and correct technical breakdowns
b.Utilize NCE/TPM methodology to perform root cause analysis to proactively identify and eliminate reoccurring failures
c.Take personal pride and ownership in a maintenance program that believes zero preventable stoppages is achievable
4. Support of Autonomous Maintenance
a.Cultivate (through active participation in the team) an environment that helps to build and strengthen the team concept and sets the culture of that Zero Safety Incidents, Zero Quality Defects, and Zero Preventable Stoppages is achievable
b.Build rapport with and provide technical leadership to the operations team (Autonomous Work Group) to transfer responsibility of basic maintenance activities (Cleaning-Inspection-Lubrication).
c.Provide training and assistance to the autonomous work group as needed
5. SAP for Maintenance functions
a.Ensure proper work order classification and adherence to GFI requirements.
b.Use AMM to properly charge time, issue parts, develop BOMs, and capture reoccurring failures
c. Use of detailed work order notes (5W1H) to continuously improve the Planned Maintenance function within the factory

High School diploma/GED and 1+ year of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, technical, warehouse, industrial, military or related environment
Two year technical degree completed
1+ year seaming experience
