The Closing Specialist assists Mortgage Bankers in the review of the application, rate lock and commitment documentation. The Specialist will assist in the preparation of the application for the Mortgage Banker (MB) and be the liaison between Mortgage Banker and capital markets at the rate lock stage by rate locking with Freddie Mac. The Specialist is also responsible for assisting the Closer and helping to coordinate, monitor, and resolve closing and post-closing issues among multiple platforms including client relations, legal, accounting, underwriting, new loan boarding and servicing.
Review the application, rate lock and commitment documentation
Rate lock Freddie Mac deals
Review and monitor Freddie process changes and implement consistent revisions to Berkadia’s processes
Update OmniView, the Company’s system of record, as required
Assign Closers to Freddie Mac deals
Prepare and distribute representation letter to counsel
Prepare and submit wire requests for funding application fees to Freddie Mac
Prepare amendments to documentation as required
Track delivery of executed documentation to maintain complete file
Monitor deferred purchases by Freddie Mac
Create various tracking reports for Managing Director-Closing
Works with Managing Director-Closing on all process improvement activities
What someone will need to be successful in this role
Advanced experience in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
Outstanding attention to detail.
Ability to manage expectations, informing stakeholders of potential delays due to conflicting priorities.
Can-do, proactive attitude that can mean making suggestions and giving options rather than waiting for answers.
Able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with all levels of an organization.
What is required for this role
High School Diploma, GED/equivalent certification or equivalent military experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in loan administration or closing. Experience in commercial or multifamily loans preferred.
