About the job
Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
As part of the Google Fiber Engineering team, you’ll work closely with cross-functional team members to deliver leading edge systems and tools that are cloud based. These tools include infrastructure systems as well as the front end of Google Fiber and mobile apps. This ecosystem of systems and tools is a key component to driving the vision to provide high speed internet to users across the Google Fiber markets. You will execute intricate projects that deliver high-speed access services across North America. You will also work with third party applications and Consumer Premise equipment (CPE) vendors to deliver complete solutions in collaboration with other teams at Google Fiber.
“My internet is too fast!” ...said no one, ever. Google Fiber’s mission is to deliver abundant, reliable internet on networks that are always fast and open. On our team, you’ll work in a fast-paced environment that’s challenging the status quo in the broadband industry.
Work with Technical Leads and Software Engineers to deliver system and tools projects.
Lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple simultaneous projects with competing priorities simultaneously.
Present your analyses, recommendations, and approaches to stakeholders and executive management.
Drive agile methodologies through the organization. Report key stakeholder meetings on status, issues, and mitigation.
Drive solutions to technical challenges in collaboration with software developers.
