Full Job Description
Chesapeake Controls is looking to hire an experienced Service Technician – Building Automation Systems/HVAC Controls in Northern, Virginia to include Fredericksburg, Alexandria, Chantilly, Arlington, Virginia. This position will be responsible for inspecting HVAC Controls Systems after installation and before customer acceptance, to ensure that the results meet or exceed the project requirements. Comprehensive training for the right candidate. Working with a mentor to develop the full range of skills to become an expert Commissioner.
Local and some long distance travel may be required. Put your HVAC, controls, and facility operations experience to use immediately, and build upon them by transitioning installation services into high performance building operations, and satisfying our customers.
Primary duties for the Service Technician – Building Automation Systems/HVAC Controls:
Use of a variety of hand tools and instruments for installation of controls systems.
Pull and terminate wires to controllers, components, and devices using wiring diagrams, and installation instructions
Install electrical wiring between controls and equipment according to wiring diagram; work with push up ceilings, hard lid ceilings, fire demising walls, floor to floor.
Standard design symbols common to industry
Work from floor plans, blueprints, specifications, and schematics
Document work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files as required.
Record parts, material, labor, and other cost data per assignment and return unused resources.
Regular travel requirements with occasional overnight stays. (20 %)
Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as projects require.
Minimum qualifications include:
Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
Lock out / tag out procedures.
Analog and Binary function using industry standard terms.
Troubleshoot basic controls circuits including starters, safety shutdowns and typical HVAC systems.
PID loops and device scaling for typical control applications.
Basic refrigeration cycle.
Air Handler and Rooftop Unit construction in VAV and constant volume applications.
General pumping and fluid system application.
Control valve and damper wiring used in commercial HVAC applications.
Basic automation system topologies.
Communications links and protocols
Demonstrate and promote a spirit of cooperation and teamwork throughout the Company.
Provide backup support for other team members.
Continually look for ways to improve our processes and ability to serve our customers effectively.

Required – Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, field technicians, and supervisors.
