DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Houston Public Library is seeking a skilled, service-oriented, team player, forward-thinking individual to be part of the Digital Strategies Virtual Library Services team.
This individual will play a team role in supporting and maintaining various web content platforms for accuracy, current information, ease of use and accessibility standards. This includes updating and maintaining website content, helping coordinate content for the various library web service platforms and apps. Will work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders in support various virtual library services and initiatives.

Essential job duties and responsibilities include:
  • Update and edit content for the Library's website, intranet, and mobile-app including landing pages, program pages, and promotional pages
  • Assists multiple teams by providing timely updates to website content that is user-friendly and consistent with brand standards
  • Aggregates content from various sources, adapting it for new and existing web pages while accounting for search engine optimization best practices
  • Assists with organizing digital assets for future use by internal team members
  • Assists with measuring the effectiveness of content and optimization tactics using various analytics, tools and programs
  • Use web metrics to optimize text and images
  • Serve as a resource for distributed web content creators; create or update resources as needed (e.g., Writing Style Guide, Event Listing Guide)
WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires stooping and bending; lifting of library materials up to 20 pounds. Must be able to move freely throughout the library to file/retrieve library materials. Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
No experience required.

Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year to year basis.

MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
None.

PREFERENCES

Proficiency with analytics software (Google Analytics), website content management systems (Drupal, Springshare), accessibility tool (SiteImprove), digital asset management platforms and Adobe Creative Cloud a plus. Excellent communications (written and verbal), interpersonal and relationship building skills.
