Position starts immediately, and pay is DOE. We aim for work to be completed within ~2 weeks of start date. There may be an opportunity to transition to a VFX Supervisor / Designer capacity after creation of the initial lookbook.
We are looking for a creative and driven VFX professional that can take the lead on creating a cohesive visual effects design for a movie that supports its story and amplifies the themes of gamification, misinformation, social media, and video games. Deliverables: You will work with the director to create a concept and lookbook for the film’s visual effects, which will span various video game, pixel art, and visual styles. We have a rough draft of effects in our cut for you to build off to create a fresh, gripping visual look that tells the film’s story and amplifies its themes of gamification, disconnection, and misinformation.
About the Project:
“Dared My Best Friend to Ruin My Life” is an independent low-budget film exploring a post-truth world where the boundary between truth and fiction bends and then shatters. This is a film that provokes powerful questions about the critical subject of disinformation and the modern breakdown of truth. The film’s look spans a shifting lens of video games and social media, as if the viewer is swiping through TikTok and playing Fortnite or Minecraft, with pixel art, instagram stickers, AR overlays, and creative, dynamic transitions.
