Job Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer for hire assumes responsibility for directing and supervising the financial operations of multiple client corporations with intermittent or part-time demands for a Chief Financial Officer. This role entails overseeing the preparation of timely financial reports and summaries for clients, as well as generating forecasts to anticipate and facilitate future growth trajectories.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work with clients to develop short-, mid-, and long-term financial strategies.
- Analyze and effectively communicate market trends, competitive environments, and regulatory changes to identify risks and opportunities to the client’s business.
- Work with stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and work at various levels of an organization to support actionable financial plans.
- Provide financial forecasts and develop operational metrics.
- Oversee the strategic management of accounting and finance functions for clients, including financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, and other managerial reporting requirements.
- Develop accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls for clients.
- Recommend improvements to ensure the integrity of clients’ financial information.
- Make recommendations to optimize capital management.
- Collaborate with clients’ executive leadership and management on strategy.
- Identify and manage business risks and insurance requirements.
- Assist clients in hiring efforts.
- Cultivate a relationship with financial institutions, investors, and other external stakeholders to access capital.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, or Finance required.
- Eight to ten years of experience in financial management is required.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and multiple ERP systems commonly used in the agricultural sector.
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities, capable of efficiently handling complex tasks and projects.
- Proficiency in utilizing database and accounting computer application systems to streamline processes and optimize data management.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, adept at conveying information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences at all levels of an organization.
- Experience in the agricultural industry is strongly preferred.
- Ability to build strong relationships of trust & influence and lead work initiatives with cross-functional coordination with stakeholders.
- The environment is fast-paced, and client needs are often evolving; flexibility and forward-thinking views are important for success.
- Experience presenting financial analysis and summaries in an easily digestible manner to program managers, executives, and individual contributors.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and meticulous analytical capability
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects successfully while maintaining an even-keel approach and commitment to deadlines.
- Travel up to 40% of the time.
