Since 1982, over 150,000 youth have been helped with Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.) programs. Y.O.U. helps teens and young adults, ages 14-24 living in economically distressed communities succeed by providing educational and workforce opportunities, skills development, and access to career pathways. We are currently looking for an experienced Communications and Branding Specialist who shares a passion for our mission and vision. This is a dynamic role that will develop and guide the communications and branding strategy for Y.O.U.’s online and print communications to effectively tell the story of our services and mission. The person in this role will work to develop communication & marketing strategies for interested donors who wish to respond to the needs of the community’s underserved youth and implement the organization’s branding and development strategy, taking responsibility for overall communications, marketing, and branding activity for Y.O.U. A successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge and understanding of nonprofit branding and communications. The Communications and Branding Specialist will contribute toward increasing Y.O.U.’s visibility in the community by developing and monitoring our social media presence, public relations campaigns, publications, news releases, and web content, and assist in developing best practices for Y.O.U. internal communications. This individual will partner with senior leadership and managers to develop program materials consistent with Y.O.U.’s brand. This person must understand the principles of nonprofit and internal/external communications, especially across multiple and varied audiences, and have the ability to exercise judgment and expertise in creating and matching messaging that effectively reaches, influences, and informs Y.O.U. stakeholders, donors, local community, and employees.
Education: BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, or similar background from an accredited college or university.
Must have 3-4 years of experience in copywriting, editing, and digital content creation.
Must have 3-4 years of experience with media and public relations.
Experience in the non-profit industry a plus.

Produce high-quality written and visual content for use across all of Y.O.U.’s platforms including branding, social media, enewsletters, web, print, photography, and video.
Serve as the administrator of all social media accounts and take full responsibility of cultivating engaging, meaningful, and mission-oriented content for (including but not limited to) Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Snapchat. Develop and grow video content for YouTube as well.
Analyze social media effectiveness and growth using best practices and monitor website traffic using Google Analytics.
Serve as the primary manager of Y.O.U.’s website content and oversee the content population, updates, and revisions.
Facilitate the ongoing publication of news content with emphasis on participant, volunteer, and employer success stories.
Assist the VP of Development and Communications with writing and implementing an 18-month Fund Development and Marketing Plan, including execution of internal and external communications plan. Develop special event materials and brochures.
Assist the VP of Development and Communications in developing print and electronic communications to donors including the production of acknowledgement letters, Annual Campaign, and other development projects.
Serve as the staff liaison with the Young Professionals group and help to achieve their fundraising goals.
Develop and maintain an effective strategy for obtaining media coverage of Y.O.U. events and programs by developing relationships with the NEO media outlets and teams.
Write and distribute press releases.
