Full Job Description
Responsible for supporting the Lottery’s highly complex back office processing systems used to configure, control and report activities on Wagering Systems. The individual is expected to be able to maintain existing software and create new software as needed, adhering to standard software development engineering precepts as they work. Must be able to design, flowchart, code, test, and debug application programs as assigned. Document all changes made to software and its configuration data, deployment, execution, etc. Create or modify existing unit tests.

Contributing to analysis of requirements, design, coding, and testing
Designing and implementing new software, test cases and modifications from clearly defined functional requirements
Maintaining existing software, test cases, documenting software changes
Designing new and/or modifying existing data stores
Creating or modifying test cases for automated testing
Providing an outline plan with dates for implementation; following project to an orderly and timely completion
Performing integration testing
Assisting QA and other groups on related projects
Working well with others
Providing rotating 24/7 emergency support
Performing related tasks as assigned.
Working knowledge of applicable platforms (Linux, Windows)
Working knowledge of Agile methodologies
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
At least 5 years of experience designing, developing and maintaining JEE applications.
Proficiency with most of the following:
Junit or equivalent
JEE Stacks and Application Servers
Web Services and SOA (REST or SOAP)
Eclipse or IntelliJ IDE
Build and Deployment (Apache Ant, Maven or equivalent)
XML and JSON
Source Code Management Systems (Subversion, Git or equivalent)
Experience with any of the following would also be of value.
JBoss Application Server
Front-end frameworks (jQuery, Backbone)
Test Driven, Behavior Driven Development and Frameworks
Java Programmer Certification
OAuth and Web Security Standards
Project management / issue tracking software such as Jira or TrackIt
Experience with developing user interfaces.
Ability to pay attention to detail.
Ability to translate flow charts into computer system language.
Ability to comprehend and assist in analyzing organization procedural problems.
Ability to prepare concise and informative reports and to present clearly, orally, and in writing.
Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining schedules
