The Opportunity

Chegg is looking for a strong Workplace Services Director to join its lean, but growing, team. This high visibility position will be responsible for a wide range of responsibilities for our unique workspaces which are an expression of our culture, our brand, and our values and are central to how we deliver our products. You will be responsible for implementing workplace strategy initiatives including developing real estate strategies and workplace solution recommendations that support organizational goals and objectives worldwide.

This is a highly analytical role responsible for supporting reducing real estate costs, improve employee engagement, collaboration, and productivity, and express our culture and brand. You will envision workspaces as strategic assets that enable our company to align how it plans, designs and manages its workplaces with our core values, goals and objectives. This position reports to the VP, Workplace Services.

The Responsibilities

Lead, manage, motivate, teach and develop a team and contracted staff to carry out the Workplace Management functions including but not limited to: Global Real Estate Portfolio transactions, lease, Capital projects and disposition, along with day to day operations management, maintenance management, mail & distribution, records, physical safety and security, food services, energy management, sustainability, maintenance, life safety systems and service desk functions, travel and transportation services on a global basis
Drive and influence the CHEGG culture and workplace experience for its employees. Be the key interface with internal business partners and external customers as it relates to the employee workplace environment, be the driver in designing and influencing employee satisfaction and the Chegg culture through company events and high impact services
Develop and drive creative and innovative event strategy and oversee the overall events calendar and event’s budget
Lead cultural change by working with the senior leadership team and management teams throughout the organizations as an expert facilitator to help assess and instill a culture of alignment and goal achievements including aligning tactical plans, daily operations, and specific projects with Chegg mission/values/focus
Develop key strategies to optimize global real estate costs, creating an efficient real estate structure
Plan, direct and manage the US company’s facility operations that drives continuous, reliable and efficient operations, but creating an inviting workplace for our employees
Lead and direct the team in managing long-term facility services contracts, developing the scope of work, quality assurance and evaluation methodologies, price proposal structures and all aspects of facilities contracts
Demonstrate strong leadership, responsiveness, and creativity in the day to day workplace management activities
Promote change and facilitates continuous improvement in all areas of workplace services
Direct and manage all relations with the landlord, owners' agents and building managers and on-call team for all US properties
Provide expertise and leadership for the successful implementation of special projects and initiatives
Coordinate direct report goal setting, performance reviews, and career development planning for the workplace service team
Align tactical plans, daily operations, and specific projects with Chegg mission/values/focus

Minimum 10-15 years of relevant Workplace Services and Real Estate Management
BA/BS degree preferably in finance, business administration,
Work experience in Property Management
Project Management experience required, certification preferred
Experience in managing high performing Workplace teams in multiple sites
Strong demonstrated experience in understanding financial concepts and the impact real estate and other workplace-related initiatives on the financial bottom line.
Superior Microsoft Office skills
Knowledge of CADD, Project Management Applications and ERP (Workday preferred)
Design experience a plus
LEED AP and Sustainability certification or MCR, accreditation is an asset

Ability to lead teams through change (impact can include cross-functional, company level)
Ability to define roles for responsibility and accountability providing clear ownership and line of sight for the team and cross-functionally
Demonstrable experience in designing and building high performing teams
Keeps a pulse on the organization (stays connected)
Thinks with stakeholders in mind
Ability to combine problem-solving and decision-making strategies when making complex decisions in challenging situations that take into consideration company-wide ramifications
Excellent communication skills and ability to inform and influence across teams while connecting to the Company strategy
Ability to tackle issues by identifying patterns to understand impact at the functional level
Process orientated and capacity to assess and shift priorities as required in order to ensure deadlines are met.
