What this role is
The Builders Digital Experience (BDX) Content Department is looking for an ambitious writer and editor to support current production needs and future goals of the team responsible for producing consumer-facing new home educational content for multiple new home websites, primarily NewHomeSource.com. Our goal is to educate home shoppers about the new home buying process so that each individual can make homeownership a reality. The content team is passionate about creating clear, organized content for our branded websites and implementing SEO best practices to increase content and brand visibility across the web. Our Content Writer will play a key role in scaling our content production process in the months and years to come. There will be many opportunities to learn new content and communication skills in this role on an ongoing basis.
A successful Content Writer
Is a motivated individual who never wants to stop learning, as the digital content space is constantly evolving. The person best suited for this role is Austin, Texas based and has 1-3 years of experience working on a content team. You are a self-starter who works well independently, but also thrives in a team environment where everyone is working together to reach and exceed their goals, overcome obstacles, and celebrate successes. You love asking “Why?” and offering feedback/recommendations to help our team work efficiently and effectively. You can juggle multiple projects and tasks, and enjoy that every work day may not be the same. You thrive in environments filled with new ideas and change, as our company is constantly evolving.
What You Will Be Responsible For
Create and edit original online content (i.e. articles, video)
Produce multiple comprehensive & well-researched pieces of content per week for our audiences, which include home shoppers, home builders, and realtors
Contribute to our editorial and social media calendar weekly
Edit content from other writers based on best grammar practices
Analyze website metrics to inform content strategy & track progress toward department and personal performance goals
Enter & format content for web publication using our in-house content management systems (CMS) and WordPress
Conduct research on industry trends and news, and report findings to team weekly to help dictate content marketing strategies for all websites
Outside of the core tasks above, there may also be projects outside of your normal scope of work that you will be asked to help with
What You Bring To The Table
Bachelor’s degree in digital media, journalism, communications, marketing and/or equivalent digital content marketing experience
1-3 years of experience writing and editing content
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines. However, we will succeed excel as a team and you must have that mindset, too
Based in Austin, Texas
Brownie Points If…
You have experience in online content production at a media brand or an interactive agency
You’ve previously created content focused on the real estate, construction, interior design and/or new home industries
