TDECU CAREER OPPORTUNITY: Enterprise Data Architect
REPORTS TO: Director, Information Management and Data Analytics
Position Summary:
This position requires a deep technical and functional understanding of the applications and data structures involved with core financial and related applications in banking and how to support them. The role is responsible for providing the technical direction, support and maintenance to the all SQL databases, Oracle databases and enterprise data; including maintenance of the technical relationships with vendors to ensure that the Credit Unions data and systems are architected, configured, operating and performing for the present and the future.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Key participant in the EA Planning process, providing domain expertise, establishing and maintaining the enterprise data architecture, strategy and roadmap. Responsible for the management, oversight, definition, and integration strategy for the organizations data assets.
2. Works with business analysts, product managers and senior management in the definition, creation and design of existing and new products and provides technical and data leadership to the application development groups, project teams, support/helpdesk teams as required. Works closely with other data disciplines to establish data best practices for analysis, modeling, designing, and building business information systems that supports information visibility needs across the enterprise.
3. Delivers conceptual and logical solution designs for specific applications or suites of applications within a conceptual (CSA) and logical (LSA) solution architecture for a set of business requirements that defines how the needs of an entire project/program impact the applications. Create and maintain Enterprise Data Warehouse data model repository and act as gatekeeper and ensure the data modeling standards are followed. Select and implement the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support data technology goals. Drive best practice in regards to data warehouse, business intelligence, and reporting technologies.
4. Collaborates in the EA Planning process, providing domain expertise, establishing and maintaining the enterprise data architecture, strategy and roadmap. Consults with key individuals across multiple projects regarding the usage and application of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing architectural standards. Collaborates with the IT & Applications Operations teams to architect Production, QA, Test and Development systems, determine hardware requirements, and provide input into hardware budgeting process and drive implementations.
5, Provide supplemental technical expertise, to application development project teams, to design develop, tune and implement optimized application objects and structures according project to project specifications. Establish and manage migration roadmap to next generation Data Warehouse and BI platform. Capable of effectively prioritizing and managing time and tasks using a defined project methodology. Proactively communicates schedule updates to IT leadership team and internal customers.
6. Facilitate communication with various software vendors for troubleshooting and analysis. Ensures all system interfaces and connections are working properly and serves as point of contact on behalf of TDECU.
7. Strategically identify best practices in relation to data security, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity
8. Completes all mandatory compliance training within designated time frame and other compliance assignments including Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Unusual Activity Reports (UAR), and Security processes. Implements processes as required by the Bank Secrecy Act and TDECU policies and procedures including but not limited to completing and submitting Currency Transaction Reports, being knowledgeable of signs of unusual financial activities, and reporting signs of unusual activity and/or completing reporting for Suspicious Activity Report as appropriate per procedure.
9. Stays abreast of changes within the credit union relating to services and procedures.
10. Actively participates in community relations activities and groups to represent the Credit Union.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s or four year degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or similar discipline from an accredited college or university is preferred.
Experience: Seven or more years of data architecture and management experience Experience in the credit union and / or financial services industry is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Good knowledge of routine credit union / financial services core systems, financial processes / reporting, optical systems and Information Systems environment.
- Knowledge of financial services application software and database systems in a network environment.
- Strong financial management skills in budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
- Extensive ability in the management of computer technology areas with emphasis in the areas of people management, verbal / written communication, and innovative thinking.
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks and projects at different stages of completion, identify targets and milestones and to negotiate as appropriate.
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing, upward, downward and across the organization, and with third parties.
- Ability to work with team members to set and communicate performance standards that are specific and measurable.
- Ability to identify and resolve multi-stakeholder conflicts and to facilitate teams.
- Ability to identify and solve non-routine problems in department or function.
