Managing Director (pre-funding/soon-funded launch phase and ongoing)

The World Congress for a New Civilization - New York, NY

Full-time | Part-time

Seeking a highly experienced, globally-minded manager able to work with an accomplished and well-respected founder to help launch and grow a global non-profit organization.

The World Congress for a New Civilization (WCNC) is a newly formed initiative building toward the most representative gathering in history (to be held in 2021), ratifying a set of agreed core values for humanity, and launching a new ongoing institution for the 21st Century. At a time when the world's leading political, economic, and cultural gatherings (i.e., UN, WEF, TED, etc), although doing great work, are not sufficient on their own to catalyze humanity to meet the urgent social and environmental challenges facing us, we need an additional way to reach and mobilize beyond the elite. With an eventually target budget of $10 million and with thousands of delegates selected from around the world, and millions of supporters, this event will launch a new global institution built on a level of credibility and connection that this moment in history requires.

The Managing Director will work directly with the Founder/Executive Director. The Managing Director will be involved in all aspects of the organization, including program design, fundraising (incl. crowdfunding), partnerships, research, staff recruitment, logistics/operations, etc. This position is NOT for someone who believes they "could" take on a rapidly scaling project of this level of importance or simply badly wants to help lead this type of project but rather for someone with a proven track record. The most attractive candidates will have significant experience with fundraising, high-profile events, managing growth, dealing with high-profile individuals, comfort on the international stage, and, ideally, managing large-scale communities, as well as working smoothly with a passionate, entrepreneurial founder. An international background would also be notable. This project could be one of the most exciting, challenging, and impactful things even someone with an interesting career to date has ever embarked upon.

For more information on the Founder, please visit: http://linkedin.com/in/jamesclark5

NOTE: This organization is just getting off the ground. Although the founder has successfully launched other organizations/initiatives before, we are still at the launch phase. We need a Managing Director who is willing and able to take on some financial uncertainty in the initial weeks/months as initial fundraising occurs. At the start as well, we will not be working out of a formal office until a certain staff size is reached. It is expected that due to the nature of our mission, some national and international travel will be required and even embraced.

YOUR IMMEDIATE NEXT STEPS: Please send a cover letter explaining why you fit with the job as described and why it interests you, along with your resume asap. We will be in touch with the most compelling candidates regarding any steps after that. Thank you.
